About Hometown Creatives
Hometown Creatives aims to inspire individuals in small Indian towns to opt for creative careers. Rooted in the experiences of industry professionals who have grown up in small towns, we hope to give aspiring creatives there the resources and confidence to pursue their dreams. We believe aspiring creatives in small towns deserve the same opportunities, exposure, and encouragement as those in bigger cities. We also know from experience that varied backgrounds can lead to a richer creatives industry and more impactful work.
Having started with free classes and talks in schools in Dahanu, a town in Maharashtra, we aim to enable talented small-town creatives to attend Cannes Lions free of cost and give them access to prestigious internships.
Our Initiatives
Workshops
We conduct writing, creativity, and design workshops in colleges and schools in small town. So far, we've conducted 5 workshops in Shirin Dinyar Irani Learner's Academy - a small school in Dahanu where one of our team members grew up. In collaboration with organizations like Kommune India, we intend expand to free storytelling and marketing workshops.
Portfolio Reviews
In collaboration with Cannes Lions and Spikes Asia jury members, we plan to conduct portfolio reviews and encourage quality spec work for aspiring creatives who have grown up in small towns. The aim here is to give them resources and insights with or without an unaffordable marketing/advertising degree.
Creative Retreats
We're in the process of planning gatherings and get-togethers with creatives from diverse backgrounds. These will take place in small towns across India, with the aim of turning these towns into the unlikely hubs of creativity.
